Gwen Felten, MA, LCPC, PC


Gwen Felten has been in private practice with Northwest Counseling Center for over 18 years. She specializes in Anxiety disorders and Trauma. Gwen often uses a technique referred to as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat clients. EMDR is a counseling technique found to be highly effective in treating all anxiety related issues. Gwen counsels clients with various issues including: Depression; Anxiety; Abuse; ADHD; Trauma; Attachment issues; Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder; PTSD; Parenting issues; Divorce Related issues and Childhood Anger issues. She often uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist her clients in reaching their goals. Gwen utilizes EMDR protocol to augment the therapy when deemed beneficial.

When counseling adults, Gwen helps clients identify negative cognitions which may contribute to their symptomology. By teaching Clients to change their thinking, it empowers them to make the necessary changes to heal. In couples counseling, Gwen utilizes the Gottman communication tools to teach effective communication and enhance relationship.

Gwen also specializes in working with Children and Women’s issues. She counsels children as young as 2 years old and is trained in Play therapy. The work of children is their play and to utilize play in counseling is a very effective process in healing children.
